I-95 North Ramp at Lombard Circle Closed Until Feb. 10 for I-95 CAP Demolition
PennDot recently announced that the I-95 northbound ramp at Lombard Circle was closed on Wednesday, January 10, to prepare for the demolition of the I-95 CAP. The initial work will remove electrical systems and lighting and relocate intelligent traffic systems (ITS).
Once these items have been completed, demolition on the cap span over the northbound ramp will begin as soon as Tuesday, January 16, coinciding with the closure of Chestnut Street at Front Street.
The ramp closure is currently scheduled to remain in place until February 10. Additional closures will be concurrent with the staging of demolition for the existing CAP between Chestnut and Samson streets over the I-95 mainline northbound. Read the full announcement.
PennDot is replacing and expanding the existing covered section of I-95 at Penn’s Landing along the riverfront in Center City Philadelphia under the department’s $329 million I-95/CAP project. Construction of a new 11.5-acre Park at Penn’s Landing, and a new South Street pedestrian bridge are the two main components of this project.
